Group expiration policy management

Manage the automatic expiration dates of Microsoft 365 groups and Teams in the Group Settings tab.

  1. Manage the overall policy in the Global Expiration Policy section.

  2. Manage the application of the policy on individual groups if the policy is of the “Selected” type in the Group Policy Management section.

1 - Global Expiration Policy

This area displays the current expiration policy set for all Microsoft 365 groups and Teams in the tenant.

Use the buttons on the right to manage the global group expiration policy for Microsoft 365 groups and Teams:

  • Create a new policy

  • Update the existing policy

  • Delete the current policy

Create a global group expiration policy

Set:

  • Number of days when a new group or a renewed groups expires.

  • An email address for notifications.

  • The policy type which affects all groups, none of the groups or only selected ones.

Update the current group expiration policy

Change:

  • Number of days when a new group or a renewed groups expires.

  • An email address for notifications.

  • The policy type which affects all groups, none of the groups or only selected ones.

Delete the current expiration policy

You will be asked to confirm the deletion of the current group expiration policy.

2 - Group Policy Management

If your global expiration group policy is set to “Selected”, you can do the following to the Microsoft 365 groups and Teams you select in the grid:

  • Renew

  • Apply

  • Remove

You must Load Additional info on selected groups before changing their expiration date.

Change the view to “Guest addition and expiration policy info” to see relevant property columns in the grid.

If you haven’t loaded this additional info before or if you want to refresh it, you can load the information automatically for all groups by saying yes when prompted.

Renew selected groups' expiration date

Extend the expiration date of selected groups based on the current expiration policy.

Apply the current expiration policy to selected groups

  1. Select the Microsoft 365 groups or Teams you wish to apply the expiration policy to, and click on “Apply”.

  2. A “Success” notification banner will be shown above the grid.

  3. The expiration date value will be shown in the grid for those groups.

CHANGES ARE IMMEDIATE WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE BUTTON. You will not see a preview in the grid like for standard data updating in sapio365.

Remove the current expiration policy from selected groups

  1. Select the Microsoft 365 groups or Teams you wish to remove the expiration policy from, and click on “Apply”.

  2. A “Success” notification banner will be shown above the grid.

  3. The expiration policy will be shown as “Not applied” and the expiration date value will be shown as “Never” in the grid for those groups.

CHANGES ARE IMMEDIATE WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE BUTTON. You will not see a preview in the grid like for standard data updating in sapio365.
