The Explode Cells ribbon tab lets you manage the data in cells in the GridView that are:

Multivalues: contain a collection of values

Date/Time: made of a date and/or time components
1. Multivalues
Some GridView cells contain multiple values, indicated by a count in brackets. Use Explode Cells to view them in a mini grid, expand them into separate rows, or control how their counts and indexes appear and how they’re sorted.

2. Times | Dates
Split date/time values into separate columns for year, month, and day or hour, minute, and second. You can then view, sort, and filter by each component, or unexplode them when you’re done. See Exploding Dates and Times for Easier Viewing and Sorting for details.
